MATT AND RACHEL
AN AIRMAN AND HIS BEAUTIFUL BRIDE
Oh man, I will have to say that I had so much fun with this engagement shoot! I mean getting to do a session on an air force base with a bride and groom in Charleston, NC is a photographers dream! Matt and Rachel are actually some good friends of mine that I had the honor to capture for their engagements. I met Matt through my husband Ryan (The two of them went to school together). Matt enlisted into the Air Force several years ago, and in the recent years, he was stationed in New Jersey where he met his beautiful bride Rachel. Recently Matt was relocated to Charleston, NC where I had the opportunity to get theses wonderful pictures!
After we got some shots at the base we made our way over to the historical part of downtown Charleston. Okay…..this place was a dream! There were GORGEOUS old buildings everywhere with the quaintest little cobble stone streets! Charm was just bursting at its seems! Everywhere you turned there was an opportunity to take pictures and that made my job so easy! With so many photo ops, it was almost overwhelming …..but I didn’t let that stop me from getting these sweet pictures! I absolutely adore it when I capture authentic moments like the image below that expresses such joy between the two.
I had the opportunity to tour one of the planes that Matt gets to work on and what a treat that was! Matt lead us up to the cockpit and we were only supposed to be up there for a quick minute because we had no air due to the plane not being turned on….and man was it hot in there! Me, being the spontaneous and somewhat crazy photographer that I am, quickly got inspired when I entered the cockpit and asked the couple if they wouldn’t mind sacrificing a little sweat to get a few pics while up there….it was SO worth it in my opinion! Sometimes the best pictures are created out of spontaneous, last minute decisions that come from inspiration and passion!
At the end of the day we made our way over to Battery Park that was located right next to the historical part of downtown. I was in awe of the massive trees that beautifuly stretched their arms towards each other to create this beautiful canopy over the entire park! We were enjoying ourselves greatly, capturing so many great shots, that we found ourselves chasing the sun in its last minutes; so we hasted over to the waterway part of the park to take advantage of the beautiful sunset! The trip to Charleston and the engagement shoot was such an adventure that I will never forget! I am so excited for these sweet friends of mine to tie the knot in 2020!
I thought it was so ironic that it was April when we shot this session and the inscription on the inside of the pavilion said April 1905.
